BUGLE v TREVONE 17-6-1978
Although scores in this era were regularly smaller than those of today, Bugle's total of 90 all out based upon knocks of 36 by John Ward and 10 by Adrian Thomas appears 'light'. But after the interval David Stevens bowls himself into the record books with 9 wickets for 4 runs in 6 overs. He is supported by Bob Wishart who bowls 6 overs for 19 runs from the Station Road end. Trevone is dismissed for 23 and Stevens is prevented from claiming a perfect 10 as Trevone only fields 10 players on the day.

Peter Rowse takes all 10 Gerran B wickets
GERRANS B v BUGLE 6-6-1959
Bugle’s record archive has always stated that Peter Rowse ‘bowled a remarkable 10 for ? against Gerrans at Bugle sometime in the 1950’s. It was an exciting moment therefore when a Gerrans scorebook revealed a game on 6th June 1959 at Gerrans with Peter’s name written in the ‘BOWLER’ column ten times. Proving this record was ‘Holy Grail’ of the Bugle statistics and thanks must be given to Gerrans CC for keeping their 2nd XI scorebooks from this era!

Two matches that help clinch the 1982 League title
BUGLE v CALLINGTON II 29-5-1982
In this victory over Callington, steady batting from Cliff Nicholas and Adrian Thomas sets up a match winning total that is supported by an exceptional spell of bowling from Tim Wiltshire in which he takes the last 5 Callington wickets in 14 balls.
BUGLE v WADEBRIDGE 28-8-1982
This victory mathematically seals the Junior I Championship in 1982. The margin of victory - 209 runs - reflects the confidence of the team at that time. Kevin Spencer fails to reach his maiden century by 4 runs and the Wiltshire (trundle) and Allen (pace) combination is in evidence in this match.

Mal's last over stand
BOCONNOC v BUGLE 7-5-1984
After succesfully seeking re-election to Senior 2 Cricket it is important for Bugle to justify the confidence of the league's AGM. Despite winning 9 games the 1st XI is relegated at the end of the season having lost the vote with Gerrans – a terrible injustice! Nonetheless the 9 victories are satisfying in themselves particularly this win at Boconnoc who at the time are favoured for promotion to Senior I. The win by 4 runs is tense with Mal Rogers bowling the final over.

Credit must also be given to the Foxhole team whom despite such an onslaught only concedes 13 extras.

Neil Spencer's best bowling performance
LISKEARD v BUGLE 3-8-1996
An inspired Neil Spencer leads Bugle to one of their best performances in many years. Liskeard is top of the table and the expectation of a feast of runs and wickets against lowly Bugle is sufficient for all their top players to appear. Batting first the Bugle batters stand firm against the intimidating bowling of Gard the Liskeard opener. Kevin Spencer adds an impressive 60 assisted by Pilkington and Thomas Jnr both of whom hit quick scores of 35 and 33 respectively as Bugle posts 172-7. Good bowling is needed to defend this total and Neil Spencer supplies it, finishing with his best ever 8 for 83 off 23 overs, resulting in a famous Bugle win by 15 runs.

Resurgent Bugle
COLAN v BUGLE at Quintrell Downs 17-8-2000
Top of the league Colan, a side bubbling with enthusiasm and confidence following a run of eight undefeated matches, is the third side to be beaten by a resurgent Bugle team. Bugle loses the toss and is asked to bat on a wicket giving help to the bowlers and after a very steady start - 13 runs from 10 overs is eventually bowled out for 133. Tea is taken at almost 5.15pm largely due to Wright the home bowler taking an unnecessary long run up and the time taken to find two lost balls from huge sixes hit by Tucker (30) off a ranting Malpas and Thomas Jnr (26) hitting the spin of Rundle. During the break the Colan players are collectively ‘cock sure’ of themselves in the belief that they are heading for an easy victory. In the evening session however inspired bowling from Thomas Jnr, Kitts and Spencer ensures the home sides reply is 103 as the final four wickets tumble for one run.

A rain delay leads to an incredible finale
LUCKETT v BUGLE 10-7-2004
This is an incredible match. Restricted by rain to 38 overs per innings after a much-delayed start – pools of water were on the wicket as the Bugle players arrive at the ground following a prolonged heavy downpour- the home side posts 238-5. Bugle’s reply is 239-8 recording a win with 2 balls remaining. Elevated to the role of pinch hitter Andy Thomas hits 79. Steve Kellow, Neil Spencer, Paul Tucker and Brad Kitts score quick runs in the middle order.

Aussie style sledging helps win a cracker!
ST. MINVER v BUGLE 19-7-2008
In the middle of a hard fought, rain affected, campaign Bugle meets a difficult obstacle in St. Minver whose team throw everything into winning the game. After a dream start (N. Spencer 75) wickets tumble and runs dry up unti the unlikely combination of Thomas Snr and Tucker join forces in the middle adding quick runs late in the innings to steer Bugle towards 200. Bugle continues to be collectively laclustre after the interval - bowling in fits and starts - until a little baiting by two of its senior players stirs up the opposition and stirs the team as a tense finish erupts.

Heads high at Wheal Eliza
ST. AUSTELL v BUGLE 3-6-2009
The third and final group Hawkey match is staged at Wheal Eliza against the St. Austell 1st XI. A win is not expected against the current holders of the competition. St. Austell bats first and in the first over scores two ‘all run’ fours on account of a huge boundary on one side of the ground as a result of the positioning of the track. A spirited fielding performance in front of a useful crowd enables the youthful Bugle team keep restrain the 20 over total to 164-7 with Couchman (3-30) the pick of the bowling attack on a hatrick at one stage of the game. The prize wicket of Hooper is taken by Toms. When it is time to bat the Bugle batting refusues to be bowled over as had Fowey by the same opponents earlier in the competition and battles to a credible 98-7 (Thomas Jnr 24) at stumps.
